22 Years Ago, Marítimo Refused a €400,000 Coca-Cola Sponsorship

Twenty-two years ago, Marítimo rejected a €400,000 sponsorship offer from Coca-Cola, designated for the club's youth football and amateur sports.

The news, reported on August 11, 2004, stated that the proposed contract was similar to those accepted by other major Portuguese clubs, including Benfica, Porto, Sporting, and Boavista.

The deal would have provided over €130,000 annually, but negotiations ultimately failed. The club's then-president, Carlos Pereira, confirmed the offer and discussions, citing internal club matters as the reason for the refusal.
