Last Saturday, October 17th, Seixal hosted the final stage of the 2026 Adapted Surfing Tour, an event that celebrated inclusion and provided approximately 20 children, young people, and adults with disabilities the opportunity to experience the sea.
Organized by EUROPE XXI in partnership with the European Parliament Office in Portugal, the initiative was supported by the Regional Government and various local entities. For many, it was their first contact with the ocean, leading to moments of excitement and barrier overcoming.
The Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Labor, and Youth, Paula Margarido, highlighted the importance of sports as a tool for inclusion and autonomy, emphasizing that equal opportunities are built by creating real conditions for participation. The secretary stressed that the sea should be a space of freedom for everyone, and this event demonstrated how barriers should not limit individual opportunities.
