Ana Teresa Pereira Semifinalist for Oceanos Literary Prize

Madeiran writer Ana Teresa Pereira has been selected among the semifinalists for the Oceanos Literary Prize, which she previously won in 2017.

Madeiran writer Ana Teresa Pereira is among the fourteen Portuguese authors who have reached the semifinal stage of the Oceanos Literary Prize. Pereira, known for her unique literary work in contemporary Portuguese fiction, previously won this award in 2017 for her novel "Karen".

The Oceanos Literary Prize, established in 2003 and currently managed by the Oceanos Association in partnership with Itaú Cultural, features authors writing in Portuguese from Angola, Brazil, Mozambique, and Portugal. This year's selection includes both prose and poetry writers, from a broader pool of 54 semifinalists.

Ana Teresa Pereira expressed surprise at the nomination, sharing on social media that she did not expect her unfinished novella about "old stories, old songs, Cornell Woolrich and me" to have been read.
