The 24th edition of the historic Canary Islands-Madeira International Regatta will commence on September 1st, with 28 boats completing a 262-nautical mile course between the two archipelagos.
At the event's presentation, the president of the Funchal Naval Club highlighted the race's history, first held in 1978, emphasizing its foundation in sea, wind, competition, and above all, friendship between Madeira and the Canary Islands.
Eduardo Jesus, the Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Culture, underscored the event's successful editions and the relationships it builds, noting that such sporting events bring territories closer and connect island populations who share similar experiences, challenges, and advantages.
