Canary Islands-Madeira Regatta Underway in the Atlantic

The 34th edition of the Canary Islands-Madeira International Regatta has begun, with 30 boats sailing in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

The 34th Canary Islands-Madeira International Regatta is now sailing in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The event, featuring 30 boats, began at 12 noon in the bay of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Good wind conditions marked the start, with winds from the northwest blowing at 10 to 15 knots. The fleet faces a course of approximately 260 nautical miles to the finish line, situated on the south coast of Madeira, near Caniço.

The first boats are expected to cross the finish line on Thursday, September 3rd. The regatta is organized by the Funchal Naval Club and the Royal Nautical Club of Tenerife.
