The inheritance left by Carolina Berardo, who passed away in 2022, is valued at over 140.7 million euros, according to Correio da Manhã, citing a ruling by the Lisbon Court of Appeal.
Joe Berardo, as the surviving spouse, was entitled to a legal share of 31.26 million euros. However, he chose to accept the legacy bequeathed to him in his wife's will, which includes 46,000 shares in the Coleções Association, valued at 11.5 million euros.
In June, the Lisbon Court of Appeal ruled that Caixa Geral de Depósitos can seize and sell the assets inherited by Berardo to help satisfy a debt of 60.27 million euros to the public bank, as part of proceedings related to the businessman's debts to Portuguese banks.
