Emanuel Câmara Questions Government on Measures to Combat Sports Violence

PS-Madeira Member of Parliament Emanuel Câmara questioned the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports about measures the Republic's Government plans to adopt to prevent and combat sports violence.

During the hearing of Margarida Balseiro Lopes, the parliamentarian warned that, despite a reduction in some indicators, episodes of violence, use of pyrotechnics, assaults, racist behaviour, and clashes between fans continue to occur, situations that harm the image of Portuguese sport and alienate many families.

Câmara highlighted Madeira's reality, emphasizing that violence is not limited to professional football, with verbal and physical assaults on referees, coaches, and young athletes in youth sports. He questioned the minister about legislative changes planned for the next sports season, awareness campaigns, and support measures for clubs and competition organizers.
