The Madeira Region of the Order of Engineers (RMOE) is organizing a conference on September 28th in Funchal to discuss the future of agriculture on the island.
The event, titled "Madeiran Agriculture – Between Terraces and Climate Change, How to Redesign the Territory for Madeira to Continue Bearing Fruit?", will take place at the Casa da Luz Museum Auditorium from 9 AM to 12:30 PM.
The debate aims to foster a multidisciplinary reflection on adapting agriculture to climate change, sustainable land management, and preserving Madeira's characteristic agricultural landscape. Miguel Castro Neto, former Secretary of State for Spatial Planning and Nature Conservation, will be the keynote speaker, presenting on "Territorial Governance in the Age of Artificial Intelligence". The conference will also feature two panels focusing on the challenges posed by climate change and land management to Madeiran agriculture. Participation is free upon prior registration.
