The Basic School of the 2nd and 3rd Cycles in Estreito de Câmara de Lobos inaugurated a new outdoor leisure space on Monday. The area includes a garden zone with tables and benches custom-made by a local artisan, aiming to improve the well-being and outdoor space utilization for the educational community.
At the ceremony, the Regional Secretary for Education, Science and Technology, Elsa Fernandes, highlighted the involvement of the Câmara Municipal de Câmara de Lobos, the Junta de Freguesia do Estreito, and the school's former executive president in realizing the project. Fernandes also praised the school's decision, made three years ago, to restrict mobile phone use, encouraging alternatives that foster student interaction.
Elsa Fernandes emphasized the school's vision of valuing nature and interpersonal relationships as a complement to education, advocating for education as a "joint undertaking" that benefits from local community involvement.
