The 7th edition of the European Week of Sport (EWS 2026) in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) will take place between September 23rd and 30th. Coordinated regionally by the Regional Directorate of Sport (DRD), the European Commission's initiative aims to promote healthier lifestyles through sports and physical activity for all ages.
The regional program will feature over 60 free activities, organized by the DRD and its partners, including sports entities, schools, municipalities, and companies. More than 3,300 participants are expected, covering youth, seniors, people with disabilities, and the general public.
Highlights include the #MEGA HIDRO by NIGHT GLOW event on September 25th at the Funchal Olympic Swimming Complex and the SPORT VILLAGE #BeActive Active Families on September 26th at the Lido Gardens. During EWS 2026, over 40 sports facilities managed by the DRD will offer free entry, subject to prior reservation.
