The traditional Lord of Miracles Pilgrimage, connecting Funchal and Machico on foot, is scheduled for October 8. Organized by Paula Garcia, the event will begin at 8 AM from the Campo da Barca Gardens in Funchal.
Registration for the walk is open from September 1 to 30 by calling 965 845 426. This pilgrimage precedes the Lord of Miracles festivities, held in Machico on October 8 and 9.
The tradition dates back to the flood of October 9, 1803, and has documented precedents since 2016. In 2023, over 500 pilgrims participated in this religious devotion event.
