The first phase of Higher Education applications for the 2026/2027 academic year starts next Monday, July 20th, and runs until August 6th. This phase marks the beginning of a crucial process for thousands of students aspiring to enter university or polytechnic education.
To apply, candidates must have completed secondary education or equivalent and achieve a minimum score on entrance exams. National exams taken between 2022 and 2026 can be used, provided they meet the minimum score requirements. Some institutions may also require specific prerequisites, such as physical aptitude tests for sports courses or skills assessments for artistic and educational fields.
The national competition for higher education access has three application phases in 2026: the first from July 20th to August 6th, the second from August 24th to September 2nd, and the third from September 22nd to 24th. Applications are submitted exclusively online. For the 2026/2027 academic year, a total of 107,598 places are available in public and private higher education, an increase of 2,882 compared to the previous year. Notably, there is an increase in places for Basic Education and Medicine.
