This Friday morning, the first day of classes, saw significant traffic and congestion, particularly on the Via Rápida and Estrada da Liberdade, which leads to the Hospital Roundabout.
This area, a key access point to Funchal's city center and home to a hospital and several schools, including HBG with over 1,500 students, is a critical bottleneck. The observed congestion is a preview of many similar days throughout the new academic year.
On the Via Rápida, the most notable congestion occurred in the Machico - Ribeira Brava direction, on the Pinheiro Grande - Cancela stretch, extending for approximately 1.5 km.
