Hunting Season Opening Proceeds Normally in Madeira and Porto Santo

The opening of the hunting season in the Autonomous Region of Madeira proceeded normally, with no registered accidents or infractions.

The Institute for Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) and the Forest Police Force monitored 102 hunters on the first day, detecting no violations. Porto Santo saw the highest concentration of hunters, driven by favorable populations of red partridge and wild rabbit. On Madeira island, Quinta Grande parish and Paul da Serra experienced significant attendance.

Approximately 800 hunting licenses were issued by October 2nd. The IFCN manages hunting activity through enforcement, population monitoring, and reinforcement measures, including breeding centers for wild rabbits and red partridges on both islands for restocking and balanced resource management.
