Volunteers who will join the future Local Civil Protection Unit of Imaculado Coração de Maria participated in a specialized training session focused on forest fires. The training, led by Ilídio Pereira, a first-class deputy fire chief from Funchal, aimed to deepen technical and practical knowledge.
The objective is to prepare the volunteers for responsible and conscious intervention, especially in a context where fires represent a significant challenge during the hotter months. The session also covered preventive behaviors and safety protocols.
This initiative is part of the preparation for what will be Madeira's first Local Civil Protection Unit, aiming to equip the community with a local structure prepared to prevent risks and support in emergency situations.
