A social media influencer with around one million followers has drawn criticism after being filmed rollerblading along the VE2 expressway in São Vicente. The video, posted on Instagram on Monday, 26 October, shows her travelling between the Água d'Alto tunnel and the São Vicente Wastewater Treatment Plant, with a line of vehicles behind her.
About 17 hours after publication, the clip had gathered roughly 3,500 reactions and more than 150 comments. Several users warned of the danger of skating on a road meant for motor vehicles, and some called for a fine. One asked whether "everything is allowed in Madeira", directing the question to the Public Security Police (PSP).
Some commenters also questioned how strictly the Region's roads are enforced. At the time of writing, it was not known whether the authorities were aware of the incident or had taken any action.
