Carlos Padrão, a close friend of national coach Jorge Jesus, stated that Tiago Craveiro, a strategic consultant for Cristiano Ronaldo's CR7 S.A. holding and former FPF vice-president, contacted someone from the coach's "entourage".
Padrão alleges Craveiro essentially said: "either you make a public apology [to Ronaldo] at the start of the press conference or you will fall/be fired." According to Padrão, the message was conveyed by phone to someone close to the coach, possibly his lawyer.
The coach's friend insists Jesus merely admitted a mistake, distinguishing "admitting a mistake" from "apologizing," and added that the coach is "very sad" about the situation. Padrão's account contradicts earlier versions from Ronaldo's associates, which suggested Jesus had promised a public and private apology. None of the main parties have officially commented on the accusation.
