Bruno Melim, president of JSD Madeira, emphasized the "resilient and vital" role of the local youth organization in the PSD's recapture of the Ponta do Sol Municipal Chamber. At the inauguration ceremony for Joel Carvalho's new term leading the local JSD, Melim commended the youth's mobilization during the election campaign and argued for their continuous involvement.
Melim stated that the JSD should play an active part in decision-making, using the local political landscape to introduce new ideas and gain influence. He commented that Ponta do Sol is "once again governed with seriousness and competence," criticizing the previous PS administration. He appreciated the openness of Rui Marques' executive to involve young people, particularly through the reactivation of the Municipal Education Council, enabling JSD proposals to become concrete policies.
Bruno Melim identified housing, agriculture, employment, and technology as key challenges for the municipality. Joel Carvalho, re-elected to lead JSD Ponta do Sol, pledged "work, proximity, and presence," aiming to connect young people with the local history, traditions, and businesses, following "8 years of municipal stagnation." Rui Marques, the Mayor and local PSD leader, announced plans to establish the Municipal Youth Council by year-end, focusing on housing policies and retaining young people and couples in the municipality.
