Madalena do Mar will host the 15th JM Madeira Traditional Canoe Regatta on Saturday, July 11th. The event, part of the Ponta do Sol Municipal Council's Annual Sociocultural Program, is organized in partnership with the Madeira Regional Canoeing Association.
The event aims to preserve and promote a tradition linked to Madeiran maritime heritage, valuing the history and culture of fishing communities. The regatta has 20 registered boats, involving around 40 participants from four municipalities on the island.
The course will be approximately 2 kilometers, starting and finishing in front of the Fishermen's Quarter. Boats will compete in two categories: Traditional Canoes (Class A) and Non-Traditional Canoes (Class B). The organization invites the public and visitors to attend.
