The Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) observed a simultaneous increase in deaths and births in July 2026, compared to the same month in 2025. Deaths rose by 6.0%, totaling 247, while births grew by 8.4%, with 155 new babies.
Despite the rise in births, the natural balance in July 2026 remained negative, with a loss of 92 inhabitants. However, the year-to-date cumulative from January to July shows an improvement in this indicator, with a natural balance of -665, compared to -774 in the same period of 2025.
The data also indicate a 8.2% drop in marriages in July 2026, with 134 unions celebrated, and a 6.0% decrease in the year-to-date total.
