Traditional Madeira embroidery was highlighted at an exhibition dedicated to Portuguese culture, held in Santos, in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, between September 4th and 13th.
The initiative, promoted by the Grupo Folclórico Cruz de Malta – Santos/SP in partnership with Art Mundi – World Craft Fair, aimed to connect the Portuguese community of Baixada Santista with one of Brazil's largest craft fairs and simultaneously promote various expressions of Portuguese culture.
Among the exhibited items was a large, hand-embroidered tablecloth from Madeira Island. The event also featured a workshop dedicated to Madeira embroidery and performances by the Grupo Folclórico Cruz de Malta, showcasing Portuguese costumes, dances, and music.
