The average gross monthly remuneration per worker in Madeira reached 1,748 euros in the second quarter of 2026, a nominal increase of 4.2% year-on-year. However, after adjusting for inflation, real purchasing power decreased by 0.3%.
Provisional data from INE, regionalized by DREM, shows that the average regular remuneration rose by 4.7% to 1,377 euros, and the base remuneration increased by 4.3% to 1,320 euros. In real terms, regular remuneration grew by only 0.2%, while base remuneration fell by 0.1%.
In comparison, the national average salary was 1,835 euros during the same period, 4.7% higher than Madeira's figure. Nationally, the real increase in total gross remuneration was 1.8%, a more favorable trend than in the Autonomous Region.
