Portugal's key air gateways in Lisbon and Madeira experienced a day of significant disruption, with around 210 flights delayed and 18 cancellations reported.
Lisbon, the country's busiest hub, bore the brunt of the delays, while Madeira saw a higher relative share of cancellations. Airports featured crowded terminals, long queues, and departure boards dominated by late services, impacting morning and afternoon peaks.
Multiple carriers, including TAP Air Portugal, Ryanair, and easyJet, were affected. Key routes, such as domestic links between Lisbon and Funchal, and international services to London, Paris, and New York, faced delays, diversions, or cancellations, with knock-on impacts on global flight networks.
