Many people believed the news and waited at the location, some holding signs and trying to capture images with their phones. The reception was reportedly planned for the Savoy Hotel.
However, the couple who actually married were locals from Madeira residing in France. The misunderstanding provided amusement for the wedding guests and others present, who ended up seeing less famous newlyweds.
