The Funchal Marine Biology Station will host an "Open Night" on Friday, August 28, marking the second such event this year.

The evening will feature a lecture at 9:30 PM titled 'Five Million Years of History in 60 Minutes - A Look at the Origin of Madeira and its Biodiversity,' presented by biologist Manuel Biscoito. Topics will include the archipelago's volcanic origin, the age of the islands, terrestrial and marine fauna, endemic species, and introduced species.

A guided tour of the Marine Biology Station will precede the lecture, starting at 8:00 PM. Reservations are mandatory and can be made by emailing [email protected] The "Open Nights" are open to all members of the public.
