The Association of Pensioners, Retirees and Elderly People of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (ARPIRAM) has announced it will join the rally for the right to housing organised by the 'Porta a Porta' movement. The protest is scheduled for 14 November at 11 a.m. on Rua Fernão de Ornelas, in Funchal.
In a statement, the association calls on its members and the wider public to take part, arguing that public authorities must do more to address difficulties in accessing housing. It says the current housing crisis requires broader measures from policymakers.
ARPIRAM regards access to housing as a universal and fundamental right, and calls for public policies to tackle what it describes as a human and social problem.
