Father Patrício Alfredo Sánchez Molinari, 44, died on Saturday (17th) after being hit by a heavy wooden cross while celebrating mass at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The accident occurred during a live broadcast on social media.
According to released footage, the cross, fixed behind the altar, detached and directly struck the priest's head. Onlookers attempted to help him, but he passed away at the scene. The Archdiocese of Guayaquil confirmed his death and expressed solidarity with the priest's family and congregation.
