A search of news archives between 2009 and September 21, 2026, revealed at least 48 fires in the Lugar da Serra, Trompica, and Terreiros areas. Excluding fires in homes or vehicles, the analysis focused on brush and forest fires. Of these 18 years, only 2016 recorded no incidents, meaning fires were reported in 94.4% of the years.
The number of fires varies annually, with 2018 peaking at five reported occurrences. In recent years, the concentration has been notable, with four fires identified in just over two weeks in September 2026. Most incidents appear to originate in these zones, unlike larger fires that spread from other areas.
