A rental car, driven by a foreign tourist, was completely destroyed this afternoon by a fire at a roundabout near the Santo da Serra golf course.
The flames started in the engine area and quickly spread to the rest of the vehicle, also affecting some surrounding vegetation.
The Santa Cruz Fire Brigade was alerted around 6:15 PM, deploying ten firefighters and three vehicles. Although they extinguished the blaze, the car was a total loss. No injuries were reported. The PSP also attended the scene.
