Rockfalls of considerable size are disrupting traffic on the Estrada da Eira do Serrado, in Santo António, leaving only one lane passable.
The alert was raised at 7:19 am on Sunday, near the Estrela area, following significant overnight rainfall. The Funchal Fire Brigade sent two personnel and a vehicle to the scene.
Drivers are advised to take extra care, particularly on local roads, while the situation is monitored.
