The Diocese of Funchal celebrates today, Sunday, September 27, at 6:00 PM, at the Funchal Cathedral, the Solemn Opening Mass of the Pastoral Year 2026/2027.
The celebration, presided over by the Bishop of Funchal, D. Nuno Brás, will bring together clergy, religious, and faithful, marking the start of a new pastoral journey. This year's theme is "Be doers of the Word," inspired by the Letter of Saint James, encouraging the practice of faith through concrete actions.
The Pastoral Program, recently presented, outlines the action lines for the new ecclesial year. The Eucharist serves as a moment for thanksgiving, renewal of missionary commitment, and sending forth pastoral agents. The Diocese invites all communities to participate, demonstrating diocesan unity.
