2026 Madeira Rally Introduces Environmental Sustainability Plan

The 2026 Madeira Rally has implemented an Environmental Sustainability Plan, collecting waste and promoting ecological practices.

The 2026 edition of the Madeira Rally has introduced an Environmental Sustainability Plan, collecting between 230 and 250 kilograms of plastic waste and dozens of liters of used oils.

"Ecological islands" were set up along the 500-kilometer route, an effort the organization presents as a significant advancement for the event.

However, questions arise whether this initiative represents structural progress or a belated formalization of practices that should have been mandatory, especially given the event's location in sensitive areas like Laurisilva, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
