The Porto Santo Parish Council has launched the 7th Porto Santo Bread Fair, which continues until Sunday in Praça do Município. The event aims to promote local bread and its traditions, recalling that the island "will always be a land of threshing floors and mills, having even been considered the breadbasket of Madeira".
At the opening, the Mayor of Porto Santo, Nuno Batista, thanked everyone who preserves the Porto Santo identity and values the work of producers. He highlighted the importance of showcasing the "best bolo do caco, and our good homemade bread" to tourists and residents.
The fair features various types of locally produced breads, as well as other delicacies and traditional drinks, attracting both tourists and residents of the island.
