The Armed Forces General Staff (EMGFA) is celebrating its 52nd anniversary on the island of Madeira from October 2nd to 4th. Funchal will host a program designed to bring the Armed Forces closer to the community, showcasing their missions and contribution to national defense.
The celebrations begin on October 2nd with the inauguration of an Infographic Exhibition at Funchal City Hall, open to the public until October 16th. The following day, October 3rd, a military ceremony will take place near Pier 8, followed by a concert by the Navy Band in Santa Catarina Park, featuring Madeiran singer Vânia Fernandes. The program concludes on October 4th with a memorial mass at Funchal Cathedral.
In parallel, from September 27th to October 1st, the second phase of the Atlas 26 military exercise is taking place in Madeira, testing the command and control capabilities of the Armed Forces and interoperability between branches through a simulated crisis scenario.
