The Diocese of Funchal has presented its Pastoral Program for 2026/2027, centered on the Word of God and the need for continuous pastoral conversion. D. Nuno Brás, Bishop of Funchal, urged the faithful not to become complacent, encouraging them to live the Gospel concretely.
The program, themed ‘Be doers of the Word’, aims to deepen biblical formation through courses and the return of the Diocesan Bible Week. The creation of parish Bible groups, the teaching of ‘Lectio Divina’, and the training of readers are planned, emphasizing the qualification and commitment of the laity.
The mandatory implementation of Pastoral and Economic Councils in parishes and events such as the opening Mass of the Pastoral Year and the Diocesan Lay Apostolate Day were also highlighted.
