The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted certification to the Boeing 737 MAX 7 on August 3, 2026. This approval comes after an eight-year certification process, bringing relief to the American manufacturer.
The 737 MAX 7, the smallest variant in the MAX family, was unveiled in February 2018 and made its first flight in March of the same year. Boeing had anticipated completing certification and commencing deliveries in 2019, but accidents involving the MAX 8, the global grounding of the MAX family, and the need to address technical issues significantly delayed the program.
The certification process was complex, involving modifications to software, alert systems, and pilot training, as well as additional requirements related to the engines and compliance with FAA regulations, which underwent stricter scrutiny following previous incidents.
