The book "Bijagós -- Islands of Humanity", by Portuguese photojournalist Gregório Cunha, documenting a year of work in the Guinean archipelago, is presented today in the capital.
The work, published by UNDP in partnership with IBAP, was developed during Cunha's mission as a UN communications officer from June 2025 to June 2026. The book aims to "contribute to the dissemination and preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of Bijagós," according to the author.
With 304 pages and bilingual publication in Portuguese and English, the book covers the archipelago's biodiversity, traditions, and conservation challenges. Bijagós was classified as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in 2025. The presentation will be attended by the Minister of Environment and Climate Action and the UN representative in the country.
