The Calheta Municipal Council has begun a hydraulic optimization project with an investment of 1.5 million euros to reduce water losses.

The Mayor of Calheta, Doroteia Leça, announced the start of a hydraulic optimization project for the municipal water supply system. The intervention, representing an investment of 1.5 million euros, aims to reduce water losses and increase network efficiency.

The first phase of the project is focused on the pilot zone of Prazeres. The municipality intends to replicate this model in other parishes, considering water management an absolute priority to ensure capacity, efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

Additionally, the Council acquired four new vehicles and a backhoe loader, an investment exceeding 600,000 euros, to strengthen municipal resources in basic sanitation, urban hygiene, and environmental areas, aiming for a cleaner and more ecological municipality.
