Construction of the new Cancela road junction is in its final stages, with full completion of works scheduled for October. Remaining tasks include horizontal signage, landscape integration, and restoring pre-construction conditions.
Regional Government President Miguel Albuquerque will visit the site. The junction's reformulation aims to enhance traffic flow and distribution, particularly during peak hours. Work began in October 2023 and experienced partial and full suspensions.
The project, awarded to AFAVIAS, had a total cost of €2,902,045.97, including VAT. The intervention involved replacing intersections with roundabouts to optimize vehicle flow on both sides of the VR1.
