Dozens of health professionals attended a training session at Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital in Funchal to explore how closer collaboration between cardiology and oncology can improve care for people with cancer.
The event, titled “Cardio-Oncology 2026: From Guidelines to the New Frontiers of Clinical Practice,” was organized by the SESARAM Training Centre. It focused on strengthening cooperation between the specialties throughout a patient’s journey, from diagnosis and treatment to long-term monitoring.
Ana Paula Vieira, director of SESARAM’s Medical Oncology Service, highlighted the importance of multidisciplinary working in identifying patients’ needs and improving care, particularly their safety. Doctors Débora Sá, Ingrid Mora, and Manuela Fiuza also contributed to the training, sharing their knowledge and clinical experience.
