CDS-PP Congratulates Ivone Silva on Winning National Women's Paragliding Championship

The CDS-PP Madeira presented a Motion of Congratulations to athlete Ivone Silva for winning the 2026 National Women's Paragliding Championship title.

MP Sara Madalena, from CDS-PP, submitted a Motion of Congratulations to athlete Ivone Silva at the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The motion celebrates the achievement of the 2026 National Women's Paragliding Championship title.

Ivone Silva, originally from Canhas in the Ponta do Sol municipality, became champion between July 26 and August 1 in Serra do Larouco, Montalegre. She is the first Madeiran athlete to achieve this feat in the women's category. In addition to her women's victory, Silva secured 11th place overall among 72 pilots and 7th place among competitors for the Portuguese Championship.

The CDS-PP Madeira praised the athlete's journey, noting she has been paragliding for seven years and began competing in 2024, joining the Portuguese Free Flight Federation's Flight Academy in 2025 and representing Portugal internationally. The party also congratulated the Jardim da Serra Cultural and Sports Association, its leaders, coaches, and family, emphasizing that this achievement demonstrates the possibility of reaching sporting excellence even from an ultra-peripheral region through talent, dedication, and hard work. The CDS-PP wishes Ivone Silva success in her future international competitions, including the European Team Championship and the Junior World Championship.
