The CDS-PP party presented a Motion of Condolence in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira for the passing of Maria José Henriques Cardoso, recognized as the first woman to exercise police authority within the Regional Command of Madeira of the Public Security Police (PSP).
Maria José Cardoso joined the police force in 1973, after completing a course for female guards, at a time when women's presence in Portuguese security forces was just beginning. Throughout her career, she served in traffic and administrative roles, with her trajectory considered by the CDS-PP as a milestone in the affirmation of women in security forces in the Region.
Deputy Sara Madalena presented the motion, highlighting Maria José Cardoso's pioneering role and her contribution to the integration of women into the PSP, paving the way for many others. The party thus pays tribute to the former officer and extends its condolences to her family, friends, and the Regional Command of Madeira of the PSP.
