The CDU, through its spokesperson Duarte Martins, has denounced the deep isolation of Funchal's upper zones, particularly Alto do Galeão in the parish of São Roque.
Martins criticised the PSD/CDS municipal executive for its passivity towards the operator Horários do Funchal. He pointed to a lack of routes, mismatched timetables and almost no night or weekend services, which he said leave hospitality, healthcare and retail workers reliant on cars or unreliable transport.
The party calls for cheaper, higher-quality public transport for all residents and for immediate adjustments to schedules and routes, including night, weekend and holiday services.
