Chega Member of Parliament Francisco Gomes advocates for Portugal to adopt a deportation policy for foreign citizens who remain illegally in the national territory or are convicted of serious crimes.
According to the MP, a demanding migratory policy should also prioritize integration and respect for Portuguese laws and constitutional values, rejecting the stay of foreigners who, in his opinion, deliberately refuse any integration, attack the Christian religion, or belittle Portuguese culture. Gomes argues that the right to security for Portuguese citizens must prevail over the right of illegal or criminal foreigners to remain.
Francisco Gomes also proposes an immigration policy based on integration capacity, distinguishing migratory flows based on cultural differences. He considers the expansion of Islamist currents particularly problematic, understanding them to be incompatible with principles such as gender equality and individual freedom.
The MP argues that Portugal should abandon what he considers a "permissive migratory policy" and clearly distinguish between those who enter legally, work, and respect the country, and those who remain irregularly or commit serious crimes, stating that a state that fails to make this distinction has lost control of its migratory policy.
