Chega party MPs elected for Madeira and the Azores, Francisco Gomes and Ana Martins, have questioned the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, regarding alleged difficulties in the functioning of the Territorial Continuity Mechanism.
The inquiry arises after reports of obstacles that could put hundreds of residents at risk of losing their reimbursements due to approaching deadlines, with the party criticizing "government incompetence" and the possibility of citizens "not getting their money back."
The party seeks to know the number of pending applications, how many beneficiaries might reach maximum deadlines in September and October, and if the government guarantees no resident will lose their reimbursement due to technical failures or administrative delays. Chega also raised concerns about travel agencies potentially bearing significant upfront costs.
