Roberto Gonçalves, a Chega representative on the Ribeira Brava Parish Assembly, has denounced the safety conditions of the irrigation water ducts on Rua dos Dragoeiros.
According to Gonçalves, following an intervention that altered the system's route and installed covers directly on the public road, farmers complain they must lean over or enter the ducts to change the water's course. The open covers obstruct vehicle passage, posing a risk, particularly to older farmers.
Gonçalves demands that the Municipal Council explain the criteria for the alteration, assess safer solutions, and fulfill a July promise to acquire new covers. He requests a concrete deadline for resolving the issue, criticizing the lack of practical results.
