Tomorrow, 5 November 2026, from 10:30 to 12:30, the 8th Children's Literary Festival of the Grémio Literário da Madeira takes place at the Madeira Press Museum in Câmara de Lobos. Entry is free, but registration in advance is required by email to [email protected].
This year's edition honours Madeiran writer Manuela Vieira, a poet, storyteller and educator. Her children's books include Fecha a Torneira Quando Lavares os Dentes (2023), part of the National Reading Plan, Maria Campinas, a Menina que Veio das Estrelas (2024) and Valentina e o Medo Mentiroso (2026).
The programme features performances by school groups, a presentation by the author, a tribute and an entertainment act, ending with a conversation and book signing. More than 170 participants are already confirmed. The festival is supported by the Câmara de Lobos municipality, which provides the venue and school transport, and by Saltos Trambolhões, a partner since the first edition.
