The Regional Civil Protection Service (SRPC) has announced the continuation of hot weather in the Autonomous Region of Madeira over the coming days. A slight increase in maximum temperatures is forecast for July 3rd, reaching between 26 and 30°C, particularly on the South coast and in mountainous areas.
Minimum temperatures are expected to remain around 20°C across the archipelago. The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued a YELLOW warning for Hot Weather for the entire region, escalating to ORANGE in mountainous areas from July 3rd. Low relative humidity in the mountains is also anticipated.
This situation, which may persist until mid-next week, carries risks of rural fires, making suppression efforts difficult, and increasing the sensation of heat, dehydration, and thermal stress. The SRPC recommends adopting preventive and precautionary measures, highlighting the prohibition of bonfires and burning, the use of stoves in forest leisure areas, and the use of equipment that could generate sparks in rural areas.
