In June 2026, the Construction and Public Works and Commerce sectors experienced a loss of confidence, contrasting with improvements observed in the Manufacturing Industry and Services. These figures come from the Qualitative Business Surveys (IQC) collected by the Regional Statistics Directorate of Madeira (DREM).
The Manufacturing Industry saw its confidence indicator increase for the third consecutive month, driven by production prospects and stock levels, despite a negative contribution from global demand. However, the balance of expected selling prices decreased in June.
Conversely, Construction and Public Works showed a continuous decline in its confidence indicator from April to June, negatively influenced by employment prospects, although the order book had a positive impact. Commerce recorded a slight decrease, but with positive contributions from all components, including activity, sales, and stocks.
Services demonstrated an upward trend in the confidence indicator over the last six months, with positive opinions on past order book evolution and company activity, despite a negative contribution from future demand prospects.
