The Public Security Police (PSP) announced the arrest of a couple from Guinea-Bissau in Porto Santo, which took place on the night of September 16, 2026. The arrest was the result of an investigation into drug trafficking, conducted by the Porto Santo police station.
During the investigation, it was possible to intercept a drug transaction between the suspect, a 36-year-old man, and a consumer. After the purchase was confirmed, the man was arrested red-handed.
A search of the detainee's residence revealed the presence of his partner, also 36 years old and already known in the case. Seized were 461 doses of hashish, 147 doses of cocaine, over 17 grams of unidentified product, 170 euros in cash, a precision scale, and two mobile phones.
Both were detained and brought before the Judicial Authority on September 21, 2026, where the most severe pre-trial measure was applied: preventive detention. They were transferred to the Funchal Prison.
